Why Should You Invest in Promotional Items?
Most companies have a marketing and advertising budget, and each year there are discussions about how to spend that budget effectively. One of the most effective ways to spend part of your marketing budget is on promotional items. There are two ways you can look at promotional items, and how your company decides to address promotional items can determine how much of your budget gets assigned to them.
The first type of promotional items are the kind that you give away to people in the hopes that they will spread your company name and bring you new customers. In some cases, you can create promotional items that become important parts of people’s everyday lives and they will remember your company for that reason. For example, if you decide to give out promotional key chains with small flashlights on them then some people might find a regular use for an item like that. When you look to give away promotional items, you want find a venue where you will get the maximum exposure so that you can get the biggest return on investment for your marketing dollars. Events that attract large crowds are always a place where companies give away many items, and events that attract a large television audience are also favorite places for giving away free promotional items. As long as you can maximize your return on investment, then using free items to gain brand recognition is an effective way to get your company name out to the public.
The other way of looking at promotional products is as a potential source of revenue. This requires more work and it also requires that ability to convince people that your company logo is such an icon that they want to buy products that have the logo on it, but if you can get your promotional products to the point where people are willing to pay for them then you have established your company as a major brand name. A great example of this is the Coca-Cola Company. Coca-Cola sells millions of dollars a year in promotional products, and there is a community that also collects Coca-Cola merchandise and collectors like this have driven the value of older Coca-Cola promotional products way up. There are other companies that have reached the point where their promotional products are selling and creating revenue, and if you can get your promotional products to that point then you can use the revenue to do much bigger marketing projects.
